Mycorrhiza, the new treasure of agriculture

The notion of mycorrhiza was mentioned for the first time in 1885 by Frank. These are symbioses between plant roots and fungi mycelia. The arbuscular mycorrhizae are the most primitive type of mycorrhizae and widespread in natural and cultivated ecosystems. The main function of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi is improved mineral nutrition of plants especially phosphorus symbioses are also known for their role in improving plant tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses such as salinity, drought and pollution. In addition, they can play an important role in phytoremediaion polluted soils.

Mycorrhizal fungi are a natural resource that can address several deficiencies in soil minerals.

The use of mycorrhizae in agricultural systems is double
interest both agronomic and environmental, so they can contribute to the sustainability of the systems and to reducing the use of synthetic products.
