The date palm

The inflorescences are initiated in the axils of adult palms that are drooping position and who have not borne fruit the year before. This is carried out between October and November. Young palms are not productive (2-8 years); The inflorescence is a spar.

The number of insider spars depends hydrocarbon reserves developed between June and October:

• If photosynthetic capacity is below requirements breathing and vegetative growth of the fruit, few spars will be introduced and the date palm fit into alternating phase.
• If hydrocarbon reserves are good, we can observe the normal development of a number of spars insiders while others stop growing giving like structures spars but that perish quickly empty spar.
